On 9 August 2013, Gavin Friday took the stage at Dylan Fest, a tribute concert celebrating the music of Bob Dylan, held at The Academy in Dublin. The event featured a diverse lineup of artists from Ireland, the UK, and the US, including Nick Valensi and Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes, Fran Healy of Travis, Paul Noonan of Bell X1, Gemma Hayes, Boz Scaggs, Jape, Conor and Neil Adams of The Cast of Cheers, Butch Walker, James Vincent McMorrow, Heathers, Cathy Davey, Ruby Amanfu, and Jerry Fish. The evening was hosted by the Cabin Down Below Band.
Friday’s performance of “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall” was noted for its intense delivery.
The concert concluded with all performers returning to the stage for group renditions of “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” and “I Shall Be Released,” echoing the collaborative spirit of Dylan’s own performances.
All proceeds from the event were donated to the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, supporting musicians facing illness and disability.
