Released on 4 October 1982 by Rough Trade Records (RT127), “Baby Turns Blue” was ssued on both 7″ and 12″ formats, the 12″ includes a longer version titled “The Faculties of a Broken Heart (What Should We Do If Baby Turns Blue)”, produced by Colin Newman of Wire. The B-side is “Yeo.” The single reached #14 on the UK Indie Chart.
