The title track from Gavin’s first solo album “Each Man Kills the Thing He Loves” marked Gavin his debut solo single following his work with the Virgin Prunes). It was the lead-off release from his first solo album Each Man Kills the Thing He Loves, which arrived later in August 1989.
The B-side of the 7″ featured an excerpt from Oscar Wilde’s “The Ballad Of Reading Gaol,” complementing the title track’s literary inspiration.
